Moon @ 67% w/ Regulus

Sun Apr 26 2026

I decided to give the moon another go last night and tried for some earthshine photos as well but that didn’t work out. While taking my images, I noticed a bright star in the field and had to look it up to find that it was Regulus, one of the brightest stars in the night sky.

About this object

Type
Natural Satellite

The Moon is Earth's only natural satellite, orbiting at an average distance of about 384,000 kilometres. Its heavily cratered surface, maria, and mountain ranges shift in appearance with the changing phase, when the low angle of sunlight along the terminator throws surface detail into sharp relief.
