☀️Our Sun☀️ 05/23/26

Sat May 23 2026

The rain here has been relentless for awhile but the clouds broke this afternoon for about 5 minutes. That was long enough for me to get set up, take a quick peek and take a 30 second video. I was going to take another quick video after refocusing but the clouds were back and haven’t let up again since so I made it just in time! I’m new to solar so I’m still needing work on getting it tuned properly but obviously didn’t have the time today. Hopefully will have some clear skies soon to get that dialed in.

About this object

Type
Star (G2V)

The Sun is the star at the centre of our solar system, a ball of hot plasma about 1.39 million kilometres across and roughly 150 million kilometres from Earth. Solar imaging captures its ever-changing surface: sunspots, granulation, and, in hydrogen-alpha light, towering prominences and filaments at the limb.
