☀️ Solar Surface - 070125 ☀️

Wed Jul 01 2026

I wasn’t sure it was going to be worth doing any solar observing or imaging today because of how hot it was out there today at over 90 degrees but in the end, it was! The prominences were ok but the overall solar activity was a joy to see.

About this object

Type
Star (G2V)

The Sun is the star at the centre of our solar system, a ball of hot plasma about 1.39 million kilometres across and roughly 150 million kilometres from Earth. Solar imaging captures its ever-changing surface: sunspots, granulation, and, in hydrogen-alpha light, towering prominences and filaments at the limb.
