IC405 - The Flaming Star Nebula (HaRGB)
Fri Mar 24 2023
The Flaming Star Nebula, IC 405, in the constellation Auriga, mixes red emission and blue reflection nebulosity, all set alight by the restless star AE Aurigae. That star is a cosmic runaway, flung across the galaxy from elsewhere, and it just happens to be blazing through this cloud of gas and dust right now. One of my longtime favorite nebulae.
