SH2-101 - The Tulip Nebula w/ WR-134
Fri Aug 30 2024
A wide-field view of the Tulip Nebula in Cygnus alongside WR-134, the bright star ringed by a blue arc in the upper part of the frame. WR-134 is a Wolf-Rayet star, an unusually hot, massive star roughly 400,000 times more luminous than our Sun. Its fierce radiation and blistering stellar wind have blown the surrounding gas into that glowing shell. This one took 22 hours of exposure over four nights.
